Job Overview:

The Client Customer Domain Application team is looking for a Senior Engineer for Site Automation. The Customer Domain team is responsible for application architecture, development and innovation of new feature development to support consumer web solutions. In this role as Senior Engineer Automation, you will develop high quality automation code, engineering best practices, test strategy and principles. You will provide guidance and standards to Quality Engineers to provide the highest quality for each release. You need to have strong understanding of SOA, Java micro-services, REST, and Messaging techniques and automation experience of those products.  Senior Automation Engineers are expected to work closely with Developers, Technical Leads, other Automation and Quality Engineers in a highly collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have had experience in the high paced energy of startups as well as experience in the structured world of larger companies. Additional responsibilities include mentoring the team, driving Agile story delivery, tracking the current tasks of the team members, and escalating issues as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Develop, maintain and execute automation tests to ensure sufficient test coverage for site applications.

• Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates; prioritizing work with general direction/minimal supervision.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives, gather automation requirements, design automated tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable test automation solutions.

• Develop high quality automation test engineering best practices, test strategy and principles.

• Devise and execute training, where appropriate, to develop and elevate the automation skills within the team.

• Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, quality Engineers, Product Managers to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity.

• Participate in automation script code reviews and provide guidance on automation best practices.

• Exercise advanced knowledge of Java and Cucumber script execution tool.

• Strong knowledge of automation framework concepts and automation best practices.

Responsible for helping to identify gaps and needs of the agile team; including resources, skills, resource allocation, task assignment and delegation.

• Coordinates various test-related activities for project delivery; identifying task dependencies, test schedules, creation of test data and utilization of test environments.

• Develop and monitor test metrics and provide timely communication to key stakeholders on a regular basis.

• Research, identify and implement newer test automation technologies.

• Assess readiness and deviation of project performance based on identified risks and testing results.

• Consistently demonstrates regular, dependable attendance & punctuality. 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Experience:

•         Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience

  • At least 6 years of experience in QA and Development.
  • At least 3 years of experience in multiple quality tools, SoapUI and Automation.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, SOA, REST, SOAP, JMS, XML, JSON, and messaging techniques.
  • Hands on experience with Cucumber script execution tool, TestCafe and Selenium framework.
  • Understanding of Unit, Functional, System, Performance, Technical and Operational testing and the tools utilized.
  • Experience with cross browser testing.
  • Demonstrated skills using code repositories like GitHub.
  • Experience with CI/CD with Hudson/Jenkins tools.
  • Experience with JIRA for project management and defect tracking.
  • Experience leading ambiguous situations, dealing with IT issues and coming up with effective solutions to ensure project deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Experience with a variety of test tools and software testing practices, including developing, implementing, maintaining and managing manual/automated testing systems and environments.
  • Experience assessing risk for determining appropriate levels of testing.
  • Web experience in Retail or other high volume customer facing web applications a strong plus.
