Description/Comment:TITLE: Software Development Engineer - 2 open positions
LOCATION: Candidates near Madison, WI, are highly preferred, but could be remote
EXPECTED DURATION: 6 months, potential extension and/or conversion
MAX BILL RATE: ***/hr
We are looking for someone who can:
Design simple but elegant solutions to complex problems
Develop efficient and maintainable software
Be flexible with tools and environment
Take initiative and work independently when necessary
Assist in making good decisions on feature development, and design and technology requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
At least two years of relevant software development experience
Competence with many of the following languages or technologies: Python, JavaScript, Typescript, C#, Cloud platforms (ideally AWS and/or Azure), Angular and/or React web frameworks, Web technologies (HTML, CSS, DOM), Flask and/or Quart frameworks, Docker, Kubernetes.
A strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis
A firm understanding of best practices as related to object-oriented design and development
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Able to travel if needed
Preference will be given to candidates that have:
Full-stack experience
Familiarity debugging mobile, desktop, and web applications
Experience with a database platform
Experience working with RESTful web APIs
Familiarity developing in Windows, MacOS, and Linux environments
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
Unity, Blender, ffmpeg, Visual Studio, Xcode, Git source control, Jira (or other defect tracking systems)
Test-driven development, multi-threading, object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery
Deep Learning and Machine learning concepts like CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs and GANs
