Who You'll Work With
The Outshift team is highly visible within Cisco as it's leading the future innovation for the business
You'll sit on the Content Strategy team and work with our Outshift product marketing and product-led growth teams, plus SMEs across our various product, open source, and research divisions to help develop and maintain a cohesive voice and tone across mediums.
You'll have the opportunity to contribute high visibility content across our digital website properties that speak to our different audiences and support all routes to market.
What You'll Do
• Proofread, restructure, and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand guidelines for all digital website properties, including product and industry pages, campaigns, event sites, white papers, case studies, video scripts, and blogs.
• Cultivate and maintain brand voice and tone across all brand touchpoints, from the website to internal comms, social media, and newsletters.
• Take complex technology messaging and turn it into jargon-free end-user copy.
• Grammar, guideline adherence, and development
• Research and understand product lines to be able to portray them accurately.
• Adapt messaging to each relevant audience persona and vehicle.
• Research industry trends, target audience preferences, and competitor activities to inform content strategy.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in digital content creation and SEO optimization.
• Proofread, re-structure, and edit articles by content writers.
• Support the curation and editing of our monthly newsletter.
• Interview industry professionals and use online sources to research topics and fact-check.
• Generate new ideas around industry-related topics in collaboration with internal and external writers and collaborators.
• Providing constructive feedback to contributors
• Review written technical documents for plagiarism, clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, content, and style.
Who You Are
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Engineering, or a related field
• A portfolio that showcases both short and long-form copy, as well as proofreading experience.
• Conceptual, creative thinker who can translate complex technology into engaging, articulate content and messaging.
• Ability to adapt your writing style to different audiences and platforms.
• A self-starter, comfortable working with large cross-functional teams.
• Proven experience as a copywriter or content creator, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with impeccable grammar and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of branding principles, marketing strategies, and consumer behaviour.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and content management systems.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and keyword research tools is a plus.
• Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication is crucial for interacting with colleagues and other stakeholders.
• Time Management: Prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and efficiently managing time are key to running operations smoothly.
• Teamwork: Collaborating with others and contributing to a positive team environment is important for achieving common goals.
• Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to data, processes, and tasks is essential to avoid errors and ensure accuracy.
• Adaptability: Being open to change and adaptable to ever-evolving business needs and processes is crucial.
• Agile Responsiveness: Jumping on tasks and executing quickly is critical.
• Cross-cultural collaboration: We are a global team, so being flexible across time zones will sometimes be required.
