Technical Writer

 Job Description : 

ABOUT THE ROLE: 
•    Technical Writers take complex information and communicate it clearly, concisely, and accurately without relying on corporate jargon. 
•    With a unique cross-functional perspective, technical writers at Client are the key link between our engineers and outward-facing teams. 
•    You juggle a variety of writing projects, such as technical specifications, process documentation, how-to guides, workflow diagrams, onboarding and training documentation, and FAQs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO: 
•    Research, outline, write, proofread, and edit new and existing content, by working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
•    Independently gather information from subject matter experts (SME) to develop, organize, and write procedure workflows and manuals, process documentation, and/or technical specifications.
•    Work with managers and leads to identify, revise and edit all documentation repositories, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.
•    Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.

WHO YOU'LL COLLABORATE WITH: 
•    Engineering teams to gather information and requirements.
•    Engineering and program managers to compile an ideal, single-source documentation repository and ensure consolidated and effective communication

HOW YOU'LL ESCALATE AND REPORT: 
•    Report writing project(s) status updates.
•    Escalate when there is a risk of not meeting project submission timing.
•    Escalate key support requirements and gating decisions.

WHAT YOU NEED: 
•    Master's/Bachelor's degree in English, communications, technical writing, engineering, or technology. 
•    5+ years of technical publication experience
(Automobile and Technology industry experience preferred).
•    Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable through text and graphics.
•    Deep understanding of engineering and service functions, hardware and software development, and validation and release processes.
•    Proven ability to solve complex problems, unravel ambiguity, and be self-motivated.
•    Experience working in a content management system.
•    Experience performing specialized publishing tasks such as template creation, development of content reuse strategies, and translation management. 
•    Ability to manage tasks and information flow using collaboration software (such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, JAMA, Smartsheet, Lucidchart, MS Office products and custom databases). 
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment with very tight deadlines.
