In this role, you'll diagnose complex hardware/software related issues, interface with cross-functional engineering teams to drive resolution, capture the troubleshooting details and place them in the internal knowledge database. This role will require flexibility to work nights/weekends as needed with advanced notice.
We are looking for someone that has a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience (e.g. transportation, aerospace or autonomous vehicles). Ideally you have experience with electric vehicle technology and remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting.
As Fleet Support Engineer, you'll:
- Act as point of contact for real-time escalation from technicians on fleet issues.
- Document, amend and maintain a troubleshooting guide for all technicians to use as faults are diagnosed/resolved.
- Establish diagnostic procedures to expedite troubleshooting in the future.
- Provide historical review of vehicle/fleet data, parsing/interpreting vehicle logs and their physical implications.
- Work with engineering design to improve tooling and detection of issues.
- Work to implement effective countermeasures across the fleet.
- Define/capture required data points to validate issue resolution.
- Occasionally travel within the U.S. to support various operational locations
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Automotive Engineering
- 2+ years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace or autonomous vehicles
- Experience with low/high voltage circuits, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) and experience on how to safely troubleshoot
- Understanding of hardware/software systems architecture, communications to support in an operations setting
- Embraces a holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and drive specific resolution into single components
- Self-starter with the ability to build relationships across the company
- Ability to comprehend schematics, electrical diagrams and connector end views/pinout
- Have availability for nights/weekends as needed with advanced notice
- Experience with electric vehicle technology
- Experience with remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with vehicle hardware
- Experience with Linux and Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing
- Experience with software that interfaces with hardware
- Familiarity with networking, TCP and socket programming
