Job Title: Junior Unix System Administrator
Job Description:
We are seeking a Junior Unix System Administrator to join our team in managing and maintaining our Unix-based systems
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Unix operating systems, scripting languages, and network protocols
The Junior Unix System Administrator will work closely with senior team members to support and troubleshoot issues, deploy and configure new systems, and implement security measures to protect the systems from potential threats.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Unix-based servers and systems
- Manage user accounts and permissions
- Perform routine system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate system administration tasks
- Ensure system security through regular updates, patches, and security configurations
- Collaborate with other team members to support and improve system performance
- Provide technical support to end users and resolve any system-related issues
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and implementation
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices in Unix system administration
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
- Strong understanding of Unix operating system fundamentals
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or powershell
- Familiarity with network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.)
- Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment and learn from senior team members
- Certifications RHCSA are a plus
